Two minds talking

Two minds talking.

It’s not strange. Most people have two minds speaking almost at the same time when it comes to making a decision. One mind will say “No, don’t do it.” The other mind will say, “Yes, do it.” One mind says, “Can” and the other says “Cannot.”

It is natural. It is an internal dialogue that goes on in a person’s head, trying to make some sense out of something that he or she has to make a decision on. How the decision is eventually made is principally determined by the “belief level” of that person at that time.

Before I tell you more about what these belief levels are, I want to digress a little. To tell what happened four days ago. I was speaking to a group of professional trainers on this same subject of the Belief Factor.

It was very interesting. This topic created a lot of excitement and interaction between the participants. It became a controversial issue at that time. Thank God, it did not end in an argument! (All’s well).

Somehow when it comes to talking about beliefs, to each person his own opinion. Some were for it and some were arguing against it. As they were throwing the pro’s and con’s at each other, I stood there in total amazement.

What they did not realize was instead of looking at the Belief Factor in a broader perspective, those who were speaking against it were arguing on the nitty gritty of the definitions of certain words and whether the levels I was referring to can be mutually exclusive to each other or not, and so on.

I liken the whole situation of that evening to what normally goes on in our head most of the time. When something new is being introduced to us, we tend to have a kind of internal argument or dialogue that goes on inside. It’s like having two minds talking at the same time. For example, fight or flight?

It is the belief factor in a person that will determine the kind of action to take, whether to do or not to do, can or cannot, fight or flight.

Well, what’s so interesting about the Belief Factor? (We will see - log on tomorrow).
